Many minor plumbing problems can be solved quickly and easily without a plumber's assistance. Our plumbers have put together these answers to their most commonly asked questions.

Hot Water Problems

We are always running out of hot water.

Check to see if any appliances are being used at the same time. It may be just a matter of rearranging the cleaning schedule a little.

For example do the laundry at night, shower in the morning, and run the dishwasher in the afternoon. Also, determine the capacity of your tank and allow ample time for the water to reheat.

If the hot water heater was working fine and you just started to lose hot water there may be a problem with a control or the heating element. These problems will require a plumber to come and fix it.

Try wrapping your hot water heater and hot water pipes in insulation to raintain some heat.

I have no hot water at all.

If you have an electric water heater, try resetting the breaker. If it trips again after resetting it, call your plumber.

If you have a gas heater, the pilot might be out. Just follow the directions on the front panel of the unit to light the pilot. If you are uncomfortable doing this, or it doesn't work call Robertson for a plumber.
